Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor Course

Our Level 1 instructor course is taught to those who have the knowledge and ability to teach in Flat water, protected from wind, waves and outside boat traffic, with current less than 0.5 knots, and within swimming distance of shore.  Those wishing to become certified by the American Canoe Association as an instructor will cover teaching methods and SUP skills in paddle strokes, weight transfer, board handling, and rescue to effectively teach new paddlers.  This two-day course is taught on a private venue and offers the instructor candidate an opportunity to demonstrate their instructor level skills and learn techniques to expose new paddlers to the wonderful world of paddleboarding.

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Meet the essential eligibility criteria
• Successfully complete this course
• Be a full ACA member
• Upon successful completion, register with the Safety Education and Instruction Council
• Have and maintain first aid and age appropriate CPR
• Demonstrate a general knowledge of paddlesports and the ACA
